Mod Troubleshooting

Mods acting up? Work through these steps before submitting a ticket.

1 In-Game Mod Refresh TRY FIRST
  • Launch ARK and go to Mods List → Installed Mods. Select and Uninstall / Delete the problem mod(s) — or all of them if you're not sure which one is the culprit.
  • Fully close ARK after uninstalling. Don't rejoin yet.
  • Relaunch ARK and rejoin the server — mods are automatically re-downloaded when you connect. If you suspect a bad local copy, make sure it's uninstalled from Installed Mods first, then rejoin to grab a fresh one.
If the problem persists
2 Manual Cache Clear DEEPER FIX
  • Close ARK completely before touching any files.
  • Navigate to your ARK install folder:
    ...\ARK Survival Ascended\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64\ShooterGame\Mods\
  • Inside the Mods folder, delete the contents of the numbered subfolder(s) (e.g. 83374), or delete the subfolder(s) themselves. Do not delete the base Mods folder.
  • Verify your game files:
STEAM Right-click ARK in your Library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files
EPIC Click ··· next to ARK → Manage → Verify
  • Relaunch ARK and rejoin the server — mods will re-download automatically.

2 Full Mod Data Reset DEEPER FIX
  • Close ARK.
  • Go to My games & apps → ARK → Manage game and add-ons.
  • Select Saved data → Reserved space → Clear reserved space. This wipes all locally cached mod data.
  • (Optional — for stubborn issues) Power cycle your console: hold the power button for 10 seconds, unplug for 1–2 minutes, then restart.
  • Relaunch ARK and rejoin the server — mods will re-download automatically.
Clearing reserved space removes all locally cached mod data. Rejoin the server after this step and mods will re-download automatically.

2 Full Cache Clear (Safe Mode) DEEPER FIX
  • Close ARK.
  • (Optional check) From the PS5 home screen, highlight ARK → press Options → Manage Game Content. Remove any mod-related items if they appear.
  • Power off your PS5 completely. Then hold the power button until you hear two beeps (about 7 seconds) to enter Safe Mode.
  • Connect your controller via USB and press the PS button.
  • Select option 6: Clear Cache and Rebuild Database → Clear System Software Cache and confirm.
  • Your PS5 will restart. Relaunch ARK and rejoin the server — mods will re-download automatically.
Safe Mode option 6 clears system software cache only — it does not delete your saved games or game data.
